NOTES FROM PHOTOGRAPHER:

The idea for this project was to have my subjects dig deeper into self. A moment to reflect on their current being by looking at themselves in the mirror. You may think it's a normal task to do in the morning as you brush your teeth. Truth is a lot of us can't and have never faced ourselves. For the past two years, I have taken the time to look at myself and rearrange the energies around me to better fit the being I want to become. I collaborated with my good friend James "RONG" Willams III, Contemporary artist and set designer for this project who helped my vision come true. He built two 7ft wooden structures with reflective material on them to serve as mirrors.

I held the Something Orange experimental photo session with Prolific Studios in Brooklyn. This session was open to the public, we had about 50+ people from all over Brooklyn, Manhattan, even friend's like Kojey Radical from London stopped by. During the event I asked the participants a series of questions as they looked at their reflections:

1. What is your shame?

2. What energy do you want to embody moving forward?

3. What is your identity?

After giving my subjects the following questions, I asked that they keep their answers to themselves. In hopes of having them leave Prolific Studios in a state of Reflection.

Love what you see? Ease on down the orange brick road and give @nycgoblin a follow and some kinds words.
