“STONE COLD”
Today, Deb Never & Kenny Beats share the new single “Stone Cold”. Produced by Kenny Beats (Dominic Fike, Rico Nasty, Denzel Curry), the song premiered as a ‘World First’ via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. The single comes alongside a new video directed by Augustin Vita (Deb Never - “Ugly”), just a month before Deb opens for Mura Masa on his North American tour.
About Deb Never:
Deb Never began recording dream-like melodies and developing her ominous grunge sound by drawing inspiration from various ‘90s artists while growing up in the Pacific Northwest. After trial and error with different bands, Deb decided to forge her own path and relocated to Los Angeles. Once there, she began working on her debut project which was then taken on by WEDIDIT. She released the House on Wheels EP via the label in August 2019, just one of many achievements made that year alone.
Outlets started to take notice, with Pigeons & Planes awarding her ‘Best New Artists of the Month’ for April 2019. As her popularity climbed, she opened for Tommy Genesis, who also appears on Deb’s “Same” Remix, and later Dominic Fike. The FADER later named her as one of their 4 ‘Gen F’ artists for Winter 2019/2020 and V Magazine named her as a ‘Generation V’ artist for 2019. Deb returns in 2020 alongside Kenny Beats with “Stone Cold.” The song is only the beginning of what’s to come for Deb in the new year.
About Kenny Beats :
Heralded by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Fader, and more for his staggering range and prolificacy, Kenny attributes his continued work with an array of singular artists to his egoless approach to collaboration. Whether a rapper wants ear-shredding metal with a trap twist (Rico Nasty - “Rage”) or a trunk-rattling interpolation of a West Coast classic (Freddie Gibbs feat. 03 Greedo - “Death Row”), he gladly delivers. He is the producer as a sonic medium, interpreting inchoate musical visions to create speaker-frying realities. He’s produced entire projects and hundreds of thundering, wildly different beats for critically-acclaimed artists like Rico Nasty, Omar Apollo, Vince Staples, Dominic Fike, Key!, 03 Greedo, JPEGMAFIA, and Ski Mask the Slump God. Today, the 28-year-old’s signature tag (“Whoa, Kenny!”) is virtually inescapable

As the title suggests, the song “Stone Cold” pays homage to Stone Cold Steve Austin of American wrestling fame. On it, Deb - in typical nonchalant fashion - cleverly paints the “tough guy” image as one that is immature and lonely, all while Kenny Beats provides an intimidating yet infectious bassline beneath her.
The “Stone Cold” video follows a buffed-out Deb as she fights her way through a wild, unhinged, backyard wrestling league. The league is filled with a cast of freakish characters, one of which is Kenny Beats playing a local sportscaster. What starts as a standard one-on-one match quickly devolves into chaos, eventually sending the video into a surrealist dreamlike tailspin.
