Chrome Hearts Celebrates Art Basel Miami with Bespoke Basketball Court Installation
Miami – December 2021 – In celebration of Art Basel Miami, Chrome Hearts transformed the sculpture garden of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, into a regulation-size basketball court installation.
The net’s backboard was crafted from hand-carved and hand-sanded aluminum, while it’s wooden base was produced and hand-painted to playfully replicate concrete in a more conscientious material. The chain net features the signature Chrome Hearts Crossball motif and is crafted entirely from Sterling Silver, while a nearby collage of vinyl CH Plus motifs embellished the perimeter wall, emphasizing the traditional interaction of vinyl silhouettes and basketball courts. The installation was produced in its entirety at the Chrome Hearts Factory in Hollywood, California. Coordinating with the installation’s concept, a theme surrounding sports and motion also encompassed the bi-level Chrome Hearts store in the Miami Design District, with an exhaustive range of specialty sports equipment – from boxing robes and athletic wear to golf bags, tennis cases, baseball bats and leather punching bags. Following an opening night celebration at the ICA Miami, the installation has since moved to the Chrome Hearts Miami retail location where it remains on display.
